Who we are

Our website address is: https://sandgatecafe.co.uk. We are Sandgate Cafe, a cozy local cafe dedicated to serving fresh, delicious food and beverages to our community and visitors.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.

An anonymized string (hash) from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes visible publicly next to your comment.

Media

If you upload images to our website (for example, in a comment or review), please avoid uploading images that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may download and extract location data from those images.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you don’t have to re-enter your details again. These cookies will last for one year.

When you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is removed when you close your browser.

When you log in, we set up cookies to store your login details and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen option cookies last for one year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for two weeks. If you log out, the login cookies are removed.

If you edit or publish an article, a cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie does not contain personal data and simply notes the post ID of the article. It expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on our website may include embedded content (such as videos, images, or articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves just like if the visitor had visited that external website directly.

These external sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content—especially if you have an account and are logged in on those sites.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email to help ensure account security.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This helps us recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If users register on our website (if applicable), we also store the personal information provided in their user profile. Users can view, edit, or delete their personal data anytime (username cannot be changed). Website administrators can also view and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on our site or have left comments, you may request an exported file of your personal data stored with us. You can also request the deletion of your personal data, excluding data we must retain for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service to ensure a safe and secure experience for everyone.
